In support of the Initiative, "Maryland in the World - Engaging the Global Community," in the UM 2008 Strategic Plan, the Office of International Programs is pleased to announce a faculty grant competition to facilitate the development of short-term study abroad courses. Successful applicants will receive a $4,000 summer stipend to create a 3-credit course, which s/he will lead during Summer Term of the following academic year (or the next Winter Term).
All full-time tenured, tenure-track, or permanent faculty members are eligible to apply. Grants are for new courses only. Preference will be given to course proposals that are to be taught in new locations, to new student cohorts, with unique academic foci not currently covered by existing UM study abroad programs.

The UM's Office of International Programs is pleased to announce the following grant for Fall 2008. Only full-time tenured, tenure-track, and permanent faculty are eligible.
Travel grants are available to carry out research overseas. Proposals must show the ways in which the applicant and the University of Maryland will benefit from the completion of the roject. Awards are made for economy-class travel and assume that other sources of support, particularly from the home department and/or college, are also being applied to the project.
Deadline: April 15 and November 15.
Maximum grant: Round trip economy airfare.
